and Sunday 12th April 10:00am to 4:30pm

Receiving at Grasmere Village Hall

by Midnight Tuesday 24th March 2026

Unsold items must be collected on Sunday 12th April
between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.  

Open to anybody living in Cumbria – must be original artworks and offered for sale

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

EXHIBITORS     

Exhibits will be accepted from anyone living in Cumbria.

A maximum of FIVE exhibits may be submitted.
All exhibits must be originals and offered for sale.
No prints or computer-generated pictures accepted.

The committee will endeavour to exhibit the first three listed exhibits on the entry form at the start of the exhibition, the remainder being ‘reserves’ and exhibited as sales are made.

APPLICATION    

To allow pictures to be displayed to their best advantage, entries will be limited to 115 applicants. When this number has been reached, no further applications will be accepted.

Entry fee – £20.00 per exhibitor.

Alternatively, payment by cheque should be payable to ‘Cumbria Local Arts’.
Please write your full name in block capitals on the reverse of the cheque.

RECEIVING DAY

                 Receiving at Grasmere Village Hall

                   Wednesday 1st April 5pm to 7pm
                   Thursday 2nd April 10am to 12 noon

Entries CANNOT be accepted after the stated time on Thursday.

PRESENTATION 

Jewellery is NOT allowed
Prints are NOT allowed, except for limited edition Lino-cut prints
Photography is not allowed

All paintings, drawings, etc. must be fitted with “D” rings and a taut cord, ready for hanging. With the exception of deep edge box canvases all paintings and drawings must be suitably framed. Clip frames are not suitable. Deep edge boxed canvases that are unframed must be painted on all edges with either a continuation of the painting or a single colour. No exhibit may exceed ONE METRE (39½ inches) in any dimension overall. 

Any exhibits considered below standard in presentation will not be displayed.

The artists’ name, together with the title of the exhibit, must be written clearly on the back of each artwork. Numbered printed display labels will be provided on reception and should be verified by the artist.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept greeting card entries.

SALES

There will be a 15% commission on all sales. 

Cheques for sold exhibits will be handed to exhibitors when they collect their unsold work after the exhibition.

REMOVAL

Unsold items must be collected on Sunday 12th April between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.  
No item will be allowed to be collected before then.
If all your exhibits are sold, you will be contacted.

INSURANCE

Whilst every care will be taken to ensure safe keeping, exhibitors are recommended to make their own arrangements for insurance cover.  The Committee accepts no liability for loss or damage, however caused.

VISITING THE EXHIBITION

There is free admission to all exhibiting artists and an accompanying partner.
There is an entry fee of £1.00/pp for members of the public.
Some limited parking is available at the Hall.

Please note Grasmere Village Hall has instigated parking charges for the land surrounding
the hall. Parking for less than 30minutes is free, but after this you will be charged. There is a car park nearby inside the adjacent park and free on street parking outside the hall.

EMAIL USAGE

The collection of email is purely to provide a fast and efficient means of verifying the application, to inform the applicant of any changes in the above arrangements and to send invitations to the next exhibition. No email will be shared with any person or body outside the Cumbria Local Arts committee.
